The Clinton Township Fire Department

Clinton Township is 28.2 square miles with a population over 100,000 residents. Clinton Township is the 7th most populated community in Michigan. The Clinton Township Department of Fire-Rescue-EMS was established on May 2, 1945. The department, at the time of its inception, consisted of one station, one fire chief and 25 volunteers. To date, the fire department has a staff of 67 personnel in suppression and has expanded to five stations. Here are their locations and apparatus...

Station No. 1, 1129 S. Gratiot, currently houses an Engine Company, a Rescue company and the HazMat unit.

Station No. 2, 21250 Fifteen Mile Road, currently houses an Engine Company and 1 of the spare engines.

Station No. 3, 16720 Clinton River Road, currently houses an Engine Company, a rescue boat with support vehicle and the 2nd spare Engine.

Station No.4, 42601 Romeo Plank Road, currently houses an Engine Company, a Truck Company and the Shift Commander vehicle.  Station 4 is also where the Fire Administration and Fire Marshal's Division is located.

Station No.5, 43800 Elizabeth Road, currently houses an Engine Company, the spare truck and several Special Operation vehicles. It also has a training room, training tower and is where the Training and EMS Chief's offices are located.

The past several years has seen a large increase in run volume. New construction, along with the implementation of Advanced Life Support Engines, has contributed to this increase. In 2018, the department responded to over 13,000 incidents.

Our administrative staff consists of the Fire Chief, the Deputy Chief of Operations and Deputy Chief of Administration and 2 secretaries.

The Fire Marshal's Division is comprised of the Fire Marshal and two inspector. They are responsible for fire inspections and record keeping, providing fire prevention presentations to schools and other public groups, and also conduct fire investigations.

The Training Division is comprised of the Chief of Training and EMS Chief. The Chief of Training oversees, develops and schedules training for the department. They also are in charge of tracking training records for the department's personnel, assisting in establishing policies, and are the Safety Officer on fire scenes. The EMS Chief is responsible for the operation of the EMS program, the tracking of licensures, and the organization and distribution of medical supplies.

The Fire Department receives the majority of its calls from an enhanced 911 system. The calls are dispatched through a computer aided dispatch system which sends maps and data to the specified Station and Apparatus.
